Ray Allen robbed

NBA all star reserves were announced yesterday and Ray Allen was not one the players named to the Eastern squad. Now, maybe the stand that I am taking is because of my close proximity to the New Garden, but the fact remains the Celtics are 36-8. They have a four game lead on the current number two seed for their conference, Detroit, and with an actually plausible 34-4 finish would join the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls as the only teams to win at least 70 games in a season.

Joe Johnson is a former first round draft pick of the Celtics that this writer saw show unbelievable flashes of talent at the 2001 summer league at Umass-Boston. When the buses would depart from the gym to take rabid fans back to the T, all the raving was done over Johnson and by far the star of the camp…. Kwame Brown. Johnson has gone on to stardom with the Hawks, a annually mediocre team that seems destined for the lottery again with only 18 wins. This is half the amount the Celtics have.

I know that Johnson averages 3 more points a game than Allen.(21-18). But Allen is clearly the better shooter going 42% from the floor despite the fact that almost half his shots are 3’s. Allen averaged 26 points a game for the Sonic a year ago. The dropoff is only due to Garnett and Pierce also having to get their numbers as well. Pierce’s name has been included only to justify showing the photo above.
